My dad 'helped' with the open house by telling everyone the plumbing was ancient.

We had to lower the price by 5k after that. Thanks, dad.

Was your dad trying to be helpful or just clueless? My uncle did something similar when we sold our cabin... mentioned the roof leaks to every buyer. Cost us a couple grand in repairs we had to do upfront. Sometimes honesty from family hits the wallet hard...
