Why does nobody talk about how much money those 'free' web hosting sites cost you in the end?
I mean, back in 1998 I thought I was being smart by using GeoCities instead of paying for real hosting. Seemed like a no-brainer at the time, right? But after about 6 months I had this cool little site about my cat's adventures, and then GeoCities started messing with the layout and adding these pop-up ads that made the thing look like a mess. I ended up spending like $30 on those 'premium' template packs they kept pushing, trying to fix it. Then after a year the whole thing got shut down and I lost everything I'd built. So in the end, I wasted about $50 and a ton of time for nothing. Has anyone else dealt with a free hosting service that turned into a money pit later on?
