Finally fixed my Geocities navigation after 20 years
I noticed everyone else using those animated arrow GIFs to point back home but nobody had the 'under construction' guy actually linked to anything. Spent last Tuesday rewriting the table-based layout so the stick figure points to my guestbook instead of just floating there. Has anyone else found broken links in your old pages that you just let rot?

Don't get why this is such a big deal. It's a Geocities page from 20 years ago. Nobody's visiting it except you. The broken link doesn't hurt anyone. I get the nostalgia kick but rewriting the whole layout for one dead link? That's overkill. Half the fun of old sites is the broken stuff and bad design. It's like a time capsule of jank. Just leave it alone and let it be ancient history.

Used to agree actually, thought keeping the jank was part of the charm... but then I realized the broken link was a page someone actually put real time into making, not just a random error. Rewriting the layout isn't about being perfect, it's about honoring the effort that went into that one little piece. Once I looked at it that way, fixing the link felt more like preserving a memory than overkill.
