I finally figured out why my old GeoCities page looked off, and it was the table borders
Spent about 3 hours last Saturday rebuilding a fan page for a sci-fi show I liked in 1998, and something felt wrong the whole time. My buddy Dave looked at it for 2 seconds and said "your borders are all beveled, that was an Nescape thing, real sites in 97 had flat borders." I had it backwards. I'd been copying the default look instead of the good look. Now I'm second guessing every "period accurate" choice I make. How do you all decide what was actually a style choice back then versus just a browser default nobody picked on purpose?
