I paid $30 for a 1995 webring directory and it saved my trip down memory lane

Found a guy on eBay selling a printed copy of the old WebRing master list from 1995, the one that had all the niche sites listed by category. I figured it was cool junk, so I dropped $30 on it. Turns out it had the exact URL to a long gone Angelfire page about local diners from my hometown, and using the Wayback Machine I found the whole menu archive. Has anyone else bought weird old web memorabilia just to track down a dead site?

The Wayback Machine is a goldmine for stuff like that, and once you find one dead page, you end up down a three-hour rabbit hole of forgotten sites. Next thing you know, you're buying a GeoCities backup disc just to see if it has your old band's profile on it.
