Back in 1998 I ran a little guitar tab site on Angelfire with a frame setup, one frame for the song list and one for the tabs, and every link loaded slow and bookmarks broke. Last weekend I redid the whole thing in a single page using a plain 3 column table for the nav, and it loaded way faster on my old Pentium 2 with a 56k modem. The table version also printed fine and search engines could actually crawl all 47 pages instead of just the menu frame. I also dropped the animated flame GIF header and replaced it with a 12KB JPEG, which cut load time from about 18 seconds to 4. Has anyone else gone back and swapped frames for tables on an old site like this?
