Just compared a 1998 site using frames to one with basic tables

I was trying to get my old 'Space Jam' fan page to load on a Windows 98 machine, and the frames version was a broken mess in Netscape. The simple table layout from a 'Star Trek' fan site loaded perfectly and was way easier to navigate. Has anyone else had a frames site completely fail on them like this?

Honestly, your frames vs tables thing is a perfect example of overcomplicating stuff. I see it everywhere now, like apps that need a 100mb update just to change a button color. My smart TV takes longer to load its fancy menu than it does to actually play the show. Sometimes the simple way, like your basic table site, just works better and lasts longer.

Right? @cameron770 gets it. Why do we keep adding layers of junk that just break? Your smart TV menu is the perfect example. We traded a simple remote for a laggy computer that spies on us. That old table site just loaded, no fuss. When did "better" become the same as "more complicated"?

But I dunno, I kind of like the smart TV menu once you get used to it. I mean yeah, the old remote was simple, but I can search YouTube with my voice now. And all that "spying" stuff, my phone already knows everything about me anyway. Plus I can watch Netflix, Hulu, and that weird free channel my wife loves without switching boxes. Sometimes more options is worth a few extra seconds of loading, ya know?
