Just tried to fix a broken visitor counter on my old GeoCities page

I dug up the original Perl script from a 1998 backup and ran it on a free host, expecting it to fail. It actually started counting again, but it's adding about 300 hits a day from bots. Anyone know a simple way to filter those out without breaking the retro look?

Remember when a busy signal was the worst thing online, @eric_wright77? Now it's just fake clicks and spam bots. The internet feels more crowded but way less useful.
