My friend swore GeoCities was totally dead by 1999, I kept using it until 2003
He kept saying nobody visited GeoCities pages anymore but I ran a small Dragon Ball Z fansite there and still got like 200 hits a week from people finding it through web rings. Has anyone else had a site or feature from that era that worked way longer than people said it would?

Man you just made me change my mind on this. I always thought GeoCities was basically a ghost town by 2001, I remember my older brother laughing at me for even checking it. But hearing you had 200 hits a week just from web rings is wild. I had a small Neopets fansite on Angelfire back in 2002 and I bet half my traffic came from those old text link exchanges. Honestly makes me wonder how many little pockets of the web were still buzzing when everyone assumed they were dead.

Right? The funny thing is those "dead" corners were often the most alive because nobody had migrated yet. People forget slow loading times and ugly layouts meant you actually stayed and explored a site instead of just scrolling past it in 2 seconds.
