My Geocities site from 1998 just loaded and I felt things I didn't expect

I was cleaning out an old hard drive last weekend and found a backup of my first website from 97 or 98. It had that classic tiled background of little stars and a visitor counter stuck at 243 hits. I got it running in Netscape Navigator 4.7 through an emulator and honestly the rainbow text and guestbook made me laugh out loud. The wild part is that my contact page still had a working email address and someone actually emailed me from it 6 years ago. Has anyone else tried to boot up their old pages and found them still out there somewhere?

Yeah I mean it's cool and all but like... it's just an old website. People get way too sentimental about this stuff. It was probably held together with HTML spaghetti and broken gifs.

@seana14 speaking like you've never accidentally clicked through a GeoCities shrine to some random cat and felt a weird sense of peace, lol. Sure it was held together with broken gifs and marquee tags but that's exactly why it's special. Even a crumbling old treehouse has more character than a brand new condo.
