Took me way too long to realize I was using the wrong image format for buttons on my old Angelfire page
I spent like 3 years making all my navigation buttons as JPEGs because I didn't know any better. They always had these weird blocky artifacts around the edges and looked terrible. A guy on a forum in 1997 finally told me to use GIF files instead and showed me how to set transparent backgrounds. Felt pretty dumb after that especially since I had already put up like 40 pages with those crusty buttons.

Save them as PNG now, way cleaner edges than GIF ever had.

Right, because those blocky edges and 256 color limits looked so great. I guess I'll just go delete my 50MB GIF collection from 2003 now, my dial-up modem is crying. Really though, nothing says "quality" like having to dither your gradient into a pile of green and purple specks. PNGs just sit there looking clean and not making my eyes bleed, where's the nostalgia in that?
