Tried to recreate the Space Jam site on my own and my counter hit 1,000 in two days, but it was all me refreshing
I spent three weekends building a fan page for the old Space Jam movie site, complete with a starry background and a hit counter I coded with a simple text file. Thing is, I kept opening my own page to see how it looked, and the counter jumped to 1,002 by Sunday night, so no real visitors ever showed up. Turns out every refresh counts, and I never logged unique IPs like the pros did with CGI scripts. Anyone got a simple way to make a counter that ignores the same person clicking over and over?
