When I first started poking around old GeoCities archives, I figured the autoplay MIDI loops were just noise nobody actually wanted. Last week I rebuilt a fan page for a 1997 anime site and dropped in a 40 second MIDI track that I pulled from a mirror hosted in the Netherlands. I let it loop while I sorted through 60 dead guestbook links and something clicked. The music made the page feel like a place you wandered into, not a document you scrolled. I ended up leaving it on autoplay for the whole build. Anyone else change their mind on MIDI once you actually used it on a page? Or is it still an instant back button for you?
