Why does every "retro" site I see still use Comic Sans from the 90s?
I was looking for old GeoCities pages last week and kept finding these new sites people built to look retro. But they all use Comic Sans like it was the only font back then. I remember we used Times New Roman and Arial way more. Even that weird purple text on black backgrounds was bigger than Comic Sans. Am I remembering wrong or are people just copying each other? What fonts did you actually see on 90s sites?

Ha, you're actually pretty spot on about this. Comic Sans gets all the attention now but most 90s sites I saw used Times New Roman or Arial way more often. People just grab the most obvious "ugly" font to copy and miss what actual retro looked like.
