Got into a debate with my brother about whether a coffee stain on my counter was art or just a mess

I took a picture of this swirl of dried coffee on my kitchen counter last week and posted it. My brother said it was just a stain I should clean up. But I thought the pattern looked like a nebula or something you'd see in a gallery. That got me thinking - where do we draw the line between accidental art and plain old mess? Is it about intention or just how it makes you feel? I honestly can't decide. What do you all think makes something cross over from just a spill to accidental art?

Ngl, I used to roll my eyes at people calling random stains "art" but your nebula description actually makes sense. I saw a dried coffee ring on my desk last week that looked like a tiny galaxy and now I can't unsee it. For me it's less about intention and more about whether it makes you stop and actually look at it instead of just cleaning it up and moving on.
