My coffee cup shadow at 4:17 PM looked like a perfect watercolor wash

I work near a big south facing window in my apartment on 3rd Ave, and last Tuesday the sun hit my mug just right. The shadow it cast on the chipped saucer had these soft edges, like someone blended gray paint with wet paper. It only lasted about 6 minutes before the angle changed. I grabbed my phone and took 14 shots, and honestly one of them looks like something you'd see in a gallery. I never thought to look at my own kitchen counter as art before. Has anyone else caught a random shadow or reflection that made you stop and stare? What time of day does it happen for you?

My building on 14th has the same kind of golden hour situation around 5:45 in the fall, and I caught my plant pot throwing a shadow that looked like a perfect ink blot test. Did you end up printing that mug shot or is it just living on your phone? I feel like the 6 minute window thing is the real trick, do you think you could recreate it tomorrow or was it a one time fluke with the clouds?
