My neighbor's "throw it at the wall" painting advice actually worked
Old Mr. Henderson from three doors down told me to just splash cheap acrylics on canvas and call it abstract. I thought he was nuts for two years until I tried it last Tuesday with some leftover house paint and a spatula. Ended up hanging that $4 mess in my living room and three people asked where I bought it. Has anyone else gotten weird art advice from a random person that actually turned out good?

Love that for you honestly. Mr. Henderson sounds like a legend who unlocked a hidden talent you didn't know you had. I had a similar thing happen when a guy at the bus stop told me to just paint over my mistakes with black gesso and start fresh instead of trashing the whole canvas. Changed my whole approach to painting because I stopped being so scared of messing up. It's wild how the most random advice from some old dude can end up being more useful than any tutorial or class. Your spatula painting is probably way more interesting than half the stuff I see in galleries honestly.
