PSA: the rust stain on my apartment stairwell in Cleveland looks like a face and my landlord won't leave it alone
There's a water stain on the second floor landing that's been there for 2 years, and last week my landlord stopped mid-sentence, pointed at it, and said it looked like his grandmother. Now he's talking about sealing it behind a frame instead of fixing the leak, and I can't tell if he's joking, so has anyone convinced a landlord to fix the actual problem before the art gets framed?
The "sealing it behind a frame" part made me laugh, but honestly it's not funny for you. I read a story once about a guy whose landlord framed a damp patch shaped like a dog and then charged him for "damage to the art" at move out. The wild part is the frame traps the wet in, so the wall behind it gets worse while everyone acts like the leak is solved. You could tell him the stain will keep growing and ruin his grandma picture, that might get him moving. Or put it in writing that the leak is still active and ask him to fix it before anything gets mounted. Paper trail beats arguing about faces.
