That time the sun hit a muddy puddle just right and I thought it was an oil painting

I was walking my dog through this park near my apartment last Thursday after it rained. There was this big puddle in the gravel path and the sun broke through the clouds for like 10 seconds. The light hit the water and the mud underneath made these swirls of brown and gold and green from the moss. I stopped and just stared because it looked exactly like one of those thick abstract oil paintings you see in fancy galleries. Took a picture on my phone and the colors don't even come close to what I saw. Has anyone else caught a reflection or a puddle doing something like that where you almost didn't believe it was real?

Ended up stopping my truck on a backroad last fall because my buddy was going on about some puddle looking like a Van Gogh. He took a photo and it was just a wet spot with leaves, total letdown. Guess you just had to be there for the real magic.

You'd be surprised how often this happens with asphalt too, not just puddles. The oil from cars can make rainbows on the road after a storm, and I've pulled over more than once thinking I spotted something worth framing. Phone cameras really do struggle with that kind of shimmer, they just can't grab the depth. Kind of makes you wonder how many perfect little art pieces we miss every day because we're not looking down.
