Air fryer cooking times are way shorter than I thought
I was looking up a recipe for frozen chicken wings the other day and noticed something weird. The package said to bake them at 400 for 30 minutes in a regular oven. But every air fryer recipe I found said 12 to 15 minutes tops. I actually timed it with a kitchen timer because I didn't believe it. Sure enough, after 13 minutes they were crispy on the outside and cooked through. I read an article on some cooking site that said air fryers circulate hot air so fast, they can cut cooking time by nearly half compared to a standard oven. That stat blew my mind because I had been doubling my air fryer times for months. Has anyone else been overdoing their cook times without realizing it?

Wound up realizing the same thing when I tried to make sweet potato fries for the first time. Recipe said 20 minutes in the oven, I did 8 in the air fryer and they came out almost burnt. Idk if the article you read mentioned this but the size of your air fryer matters too. A bigger basket means more room for air to move around, so stuff cooks faster than in a tiny one where things are piled on top of each other. Might be worth checking if your model is on the larger side because that could explain why some people's times are way off from yours.

Size of your air fryer matters" - man, I don't know if it's that deep. I got a cheap little one from Walmart and my wings come out fine in like 12 minutes. Maybe people just need to check their food once instead of overthinking it.
