Can we talk about preheating being a total waste of time

I see everyone preheating their air fryer for 5 minutes before every batch, but I stopped doing that 2 months ago and my chicken thighs come out just as crispy, 4 minutes faster. Has anyone else actually tested this side by side, or are we all just following the manual out of habit?

Air fryers heat so fast, preheating is pure placebo anyway.
