Had to choose between frozen fries or making my own for the air fryer
I was making dinner last night and only had two potatoes left, not enough for my family of four. I had to decide between running to the store for a bag of frozen fries or trying to stretch the potatoes into something else. I decided to slice the potatoes super thin, toss them in a little oil and salt, and air fry them at 380 for about 12 minutes. They came out like crispy potato chips and everyone loved them. It saved me a trip and used up what I had. Has anyone else had to improvise with limited ingredients in the air fryer?

Yeah I was always team frozen but this actually sounds way better.

Why not just slice em thick and fry at 400 for 15 mins?

Oh man, this reminds me of the time my buddy tried to air fry a whole potato thinking it would cook through like a baked one... nope, ended up with a rock hard center and burnt skin. That's how I learned you gotta think about thickness and time together. @elliots49 I bet 400 for 15 works great for thinner cuts though, maybe even a little less if you like them softer in the middle. I always end up checking mine like three times because I can't help it.
