Heard someone at work say air fryers are just tiny convection ovens and it got me thinking
I was at lunch last Wednesday and my coworker Mike kept insisting air fryers are just mini convection ovens with a fan. It bothered me for a day but then I realized my air fryer at home cooks chicken wings in 12 minutes flat while my big oven takes 30. So I looked it up and the main difference is the air fryer moves hotter air way faster. Has anyone else tried the same recipe in both and noticed a huge time difference?

Oh PLEASE. Mike is that guy who watches one YouTube video and suddenly thinks he's an engineer. Yeah technically it's a convection oven but if my convection oven could turn frozen tater tots into crispy perfection in under 10 minutes without heating up my whole kitchen I would have thrown my regular oven out years ago. Plus have you tried cleaning a full size oven vs wiping out a little basket with a soapy sponge? No comparison at all. Mike probably still uses a flip phone too.

My flip phone is actually in a drawer somewhere with a cracked screen and a dead battery, so I guess I'm the guy who's WORSE than Mike. I own one of those air fryers and I'm pretty sure I've only used it for frozen tater tots and chicken nuggets. It's basically a tiny cube that makes crunchy things and I absolutely love it for that one single purpose.
