My air fryer basket shattered on a tiled floor, now I'm paranoid

Dropped my 8 inch basket while shaking fries last Tuesday and it exploded into like 40 glass pieces, which took an hour to sweep out of every corner of my kitchen. The basket was less than 6 months old and I didn't even hit it that hard, seems like thinner metal than my old one. Anyone else had a basket fail after a basic drop, or should I switch to a silicone liner to protect what's left?

Heard those newer baskets are thinner, heard a guy on a podcast say the same thing happen to him.

Wait, did they change the material entirely or just the thickness? My buddy Mike bought one of the new ones last summer, took it out maybe five times. Second trip out, he set it down a little rough on some gravel and the bottom just crinkled up like paper. He was so mad, he called the company and everything. They told him it was a "wear and tear" thing, wouldn't do anything about it. He still uses it but he's always complaining about how flimsy it feels compared to his old one from like ten years back. Makes me nervous to even pick one up at the store now, honestly.
