My sister told me to just 'spray the basket with oil' and move on

She came over last week and saw me carefully brushing oil onto every single fry. She laughed and said just spray it, you're not cooking a gourmet meal. Has anyone else had a family member totally dismiss your air fryer prep methods like that?

My mom tried this exact thing and I finally just handed her the brush and told her to show me her way. She gave up after three fries and admitted the brush was better lol. Now she texts me pics every time she brushes her fries.

Did she offer to come over and scrub the baked-on grease out of every nook and cranny of your air fryer basket too? Because the oil spray always ends up pooling in the corners or getting all over the heating element, and then you're just eating burnt oil mist. Meanwhile my careful brush technique gives me fries that are actually crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, not some soggy oil-bomb situation. But sure, I guess if you're cool with your fries tasting like a neglected gas station forecourt, spray away. Tell her I'll trade her my brush for her spray bottle and see who wins the next fry-off.

Gotta say @irisross, you're missing the real enemy here - it's not spray vs brush, it's the people who just toss frozen fries in dry and call it a day. Those sad, pale fries are the actual crime against air frying.
