My sister told me to preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes before putting anything in
I always skipped preheating because I thought it was a waste of time. Tried it with some frozen chicken tenders from Aldi last night and they came out way crispier than usual. Who else has been skipping this step and missing out?

My air fryer manual said to preheat so I always did it, never questioned it.

Oh come ON @the_cora, you really think that little 30 second preheat is doing ANYTHING? I tried it once and skipped it the next time and my fries came out EXACTLY the same. The manual probably says that so you feel like you're getting your money's worth or something. These things are basically tiny convection ovens and nobody preheats their full size oven for frozen food do they? I'm telling you, that extra time adds up and you're just wasting electricity for NO reason.
