My sister's 'flip it halfway, trust me' advice made the worst wings of my life

She swore her 400 degree trick for 25 minutes was foolproof, but I opened my air fryer to a smoky mess and charcoal-flavored drumettes last Tuesday. Has anyone else had a family member insist on a method that clearly only works on their specific machine or am I just cursed with a weaker model?
