Overheard my neighbor say she cooks chicken in 8 minutes flat

My neighbor was bragging to someone on the phone about her air fryer chicken thighs. She said she puts them in at 400 for 8 minutes and they come out crispy. Tried it tonight with some drumsticks I had. Cooked up fine but the inside was still a little pink near the bone. Anyone else had to add a few extra minutes for bone-in pieces?

Yeah I do bone-in thighs at 400 for like 12-14 minutes and they come out perfect every time. That extra few minutes makes all the difference for getting them cooked through without drying out.

I mean, are we really freaking out over a little pink near the bone? Chicken thighs and drumsticks are darker meat, they hold onto that pink color way longer than a breast will. I've had perfectly cooked thighs that were 165 degrees inside but still had that reddish tint by the bone. 8 minutes at 400 sounds short to me too for bone-in, but I bet if you checked it with a thermometer it was fine. People get so worked up about pink chicken but half the time it's just how the meat looks, not how safe it is.
