Spent $70 on a "air fryer cookbook" at the Des Moines airport and every recipe is just oven temps cut in half
So I grabbed this cookbook at the Hudson News in the Des Moines airport last month because my flight got delayed 4 hours and I had already read everything else. It was called something like "The Complete Air Fryer Bible" and cost me $70, which stings but whatever, I was bored and hungry. Got home, cracked it open, and by the third recipe I noticed something weird. Every single one said the same thing: "take your favorite oven recipe and subtract 25 degrees and cut the time by 20 percent." That is literally the entire book. Twelve dollars worth of info wrapped in 200 pages. I sat there with a highlighter going through it and I could not find one single recipe that had actually been tested in a basket. Even the wings were just a copy paste from a regular oven cookbook. My wife still brings it up every time I pull the air fryer out of the cabinet. Has anyone actually paid money for one of these that was worth it, or is the whole cookbook shelf at the airport a scam?
