DAE get talked down to for using a paper map, or was it just the guy at the Shell station in Reno?
So I'm on a road trip back in June and I stop at this Shell station off I-80 in Reno to ask for directions to a campground, and I pull out my folded paper map on the hood of my car. This younger guy working there looks at it and goes, 'You know your phone does that, right?' And then he just stands there watching me like I'm trying to start a fire with sticks. I said my phone died two exits back and he just shrugged and said 'sounds like a you problem.' I found the campground fine with my map and a little help from an older guy pumping gas, but that kid's tone stuck with me for days. I keep a paper atlas in the glovebox on purpose, partly because I like it and partly because dead batteries don't care how smart your phone is. It's not like I can't use GPS, I just don't want to be helpless the second it quits on me. How do you all handle it when someone acts like paper is a joke?
