Hot take: I ditched my phone alarm for a wind up clock and the sunrise, and last Tuesday proved me right
Everyone keeps telling me I am crazy for not keeping a phone on my nightstand, but last Tuesday changed my mind for good. The power went out around 4am here in Boise and my neighbor's phone alarm never went off because his battery died overnight. My old wind up Big Ben clock woke me at 5:30 like it always does, and I watched the sky turn pink while I made real coffee on the stove. I got to my woodshop 40 minutes before anyone else and finished a whole chair back before the crew showed up. No buzzing, no scrolling, no staring at a screen before my feet hit the floor. Has anyone else noticed they sleep harder when the last thing they touch at night is a book instead of a phone?
