Just realized writing checks for groceries again saved me $43 in one month
I started paying for groceries with paper checks back in January after my debit card got skimmed at a gas station in Boise. The first trip took forever, the cashier had to call a manager over and I stood there like an idiot for 5 minutes. But here is the weird part, having to write the amount by hand made me actually see the total, and I stopped grabbing the $6 snack stuff at the register. Last month I added up my receipts and I spent $43 less than my usual card average. Does anyone else use a cash envelope or checkbook system and actually stick with it, or do you fall off after a few weeks like I usually do?
