Shoutout to my old alarm clock that died on me yesterday morning

I've been using this wind-up Big Ben clock for like 12 years, it was my grandpa's before that. Yesterday the alarm just didn't go off at 6 AM, the spring inside must have snapped or something. I ended up ripping the back off and saw this little coil of wire all loose and tangled up inside. Has anyone else had a wind-up alarm fail on them and find a way to fix the spring without buying a whole new clock?

Wait, you actually tried to fix it yourself? That takes guts, I would've just thrown it at the wall and cried over my grandpa's clock honestly. I had a similar wind-up clock that stopped ticking last year, the spring just gave up on life after like 15 years of faithful service. I tried to mess with it too but all I did was make a tiny metal coil explosion in my kitchen and then I had to sweep up little spring pieces for an hour. If you're really set on fixing it, you might find a replacement spring online for cheap but honestly those old clocks are kinda like people, when they're done they're done. Maybe just frame the broken one and buy a new alarm clock that's not so ancient, you know?
