Shoutout to the charm of buying a $15 manual can opener that stripped after 3 uses

I blew $15 on a fancy chrome can opener from a hardware store in Bend last month and the gears gave out on the third can of beans, has anyone else found a sturdy one that actually lasts?

Nah, you just bought a cheap one. Spend $30 and it'll outlive you.

Yeah I used to think that too until I bought a $25 one from a local hardware store and it lasted me like 8 years. Still works actually, I just upgraded because I wanted something with a bit more grip. But the cheap ones I grabbed from the grocery store would crap out in a few months every time. So I guess it really depends on where you get it.

Bought a $30 one from REI that stripped on the first twist, so now I just stab my cans open and call it a workout.
