Showerthought: My grandma's trick for remembering grocery lists without a phone actually works better
After forgetting milk three trips in a row, I started tying a specific knot in my apron string for each needed item, like a double loop for eggs, and untying them at the store, which has kept my list perfect for 2 months now.

Is @brookewood suggesting we all start wearing knot-covered aprons to the supermarket now?

Isn't it wild how our brains latch onto physical stuff? I read this article about memory palaces, and it's the same idea. Your brain connects the info to a place or a thing you can touch. A knot in a string is way more solid than a note on a screen you just swipe away. My phone list just becomes background noise, but untying a knot is a whole action you have to think about. It makes the item itself feel more real before you even get to the store.
