The hardware store clerk in Duluth talked me out of buying a power tool
I walked into a small shop on Superior Street two weeks ago set on renting a gas tiller for my mom's garden, and the older clerk put his hand on the counter and asked me if I'd tried a spade and my own two arms first. He showed me his own calloused palms and told me he'd turned over that same plot by hand for 40 years, then rang me up for a $14 spade instead of a rental fee. Am I crazy for thinking more stores should push the boring manual way over the easy powered way?
