Watched an old timer fix a screen door with a butter knife at a diner in Nebraska
I was eating at a roadside diner outside Omaha last weekend and the waitress said the screen door was stuck again. This guy in a flannel walked over, bent the hinge pin with a butter knife, and it worked like new. Has anyone else noticed how we've lost the instinct to just fix stuff with what's in front of us?

Actually it's more of a pivot pin than a hinge pin, but close enough. The butter knife trick is a classic though, seen a few old timers do that with screen doors and storm windows.

Butter knife trick works on most window latches too, just gotta wiggle it right.
