Why does nobody talk about using a kitchen scale for mail
I got tired of guessing postage on small packages I send for my roofing business. Last month I grabbed my $20 kitchen scale from Target and weighed a box of gaskets. It came out to 13.4 ounces exactly. Saved me a trip to the post office and I didn't overpay for an extra ounce. Has anyone else tried this or do you all still just guess?

That 13.4 ounces is actually right at the cutoff for first class packages. Once you hit 14 ounces it needs to go Priority Mail and costs way more. My kitchen scale has been a lifesaver for little stuff I sell online. Just be careful with the calibration, sometimes those cheap scales can be off by a couple tenths of an ounce. I always weigh something I know the exact weight of first to double check it.
