A friend said my photos looked too clean and safe

I was showing off some shots from my Pentax K1000 of a neat old diner in Spokane, and she pointed out I always frame things dead center and avoid any shadows. That next roll, I forced myself to shoot into the sun and get closer to weird angles, like the cracked vinyl on a booth. Do you ever get stuck in a visual habit you need someone else to point out?

Oh man, totally! I got stuck only taking pictures of my dog from above for like a year. My sister had to tell me all my photos looked the same. @sage_fox, nothing's wrong with clean, but it gets boring if that's all you ever do.
