Dae change their mind about pushing film two stops? I shot a roll in Tucson and now I get it
I always thought pushing film was a gimmick for people who forgot their meter. A guy at a camera swap in Tucson shot my Portra 400 at 1600 and the grain in the shadows looked like something out of a real documentary, not just noise. Then I tried it myself at a car show near Phoenix and 36 frames came back with that moody look I kept chasing with filters. The lab ran it at plus two and charged me five extra bucks, way less than what I spent on digital plugins. Now I'm second guessing every roll I shoot at box speed. What pushes do you all actually like, and does anybody push color negative more than one stop without hating the results?
