Had to choose between a Pentax K1000 and a Minolta X-700 for my first film camera last month

I went with the Minolta because the meter was easier to read in low light, but now half my shots are blurry because I keep grabbing the wrong focus ring in a hurry, anyone else regret skipping a fully manual camera?

Oh MAN I feel this. The K1000 is a tank that FORCES you to learn every single step. I grabbed an X-700 first too and spent a month shooting blurry stuff before I trained my left hand to find the focus ring by feel. Tape a tiny piece of felt or a rubber band on the Minolta's focus ring so your fingers KNOW where it is without looking.

Had a buddy tape a little strip of grippy shelf liner to his Minolta's focus ring after this exact complaint. @xena_taylor64 is spot on with the rubber band trick. He still blames the camera sometimes though.
