My camera strap broke at the worst possible moment in a Seattle ferry line
I was waiting to board with my Pentax K1000 and the whole thing just fell, bouncing once before I caught it. Now I triple-check the clasp before I even leave the house. Anyone else have a gear failure story that made you paranoid?

That "bouncing once" sound is the worst. My old tripod leg collapsed mid-shoot and now I check every lock like a crazy person.

Man oh man, I feel that paranoia. I was hiking in the Cascades once and my camera bag strap just snapped at the buckle, dumping my whole kit down a rocky slope. My 50mm f/1.4 took a direct hit to the glass, totally shattered. Now I have this little ritual before every shoot where I tug on every single strap and zipper like I'm testing a parachute. It's dumb but it keeps me sane.
