My shutter jammed halfway through a roll at a wedding in Portland last July
I was shooting at my cousin's outdoor wedding near Forest Park. The shutter on my old Pentax K1000 just locked up solid after maybe 15 frames. I had to tell the bride I needed a break, ducked behind a tent, and spent 20 minutes gently working the mechanism with a toothpick. Got it unstuck but missed the cake cutting. Still got some decent shots though. Anyone else ever had a camera die mid-shoot and had to MacGyver it back to life?

You said you had to tell the bride you needed a break and ducked behind a tent with a toothpick. I can't believe you actually did that at a wedding. That takes guts, I'll give you that. I think most people would have just pretended the camera was fine and hoped for the best. You're lucky you got it working again though, even if you missed the cake cutting. That's a story the bride probably still tells people.

And missing the cake cutting is honestly a solid trade for not having to explain to the bride why every single photo has a greasy smudge in the middle lol.
