Pro tip: load your film in the shade, not in your car on a 95 degree day
Last Saturday I was parked outside my sister's place in Phoenix and thought I'd just quickly load a roll of Portra 400 in the driver's seat with the AC blasting. Big mistake. The film got sticky and kinked, and I ruined the first 8 frames of a roll I'd been saving for her birthday party. I didn't notice until I picked up the prints at Walgreens on Tuesday and half of them had these weird light streaks. I've shot film for about 6 years and never had this happen before. Turns out heat plus rushing equals a $22 roll down the drain. Has anyone else wrecked a whole roll just from loading it in the wrong spot?
