Shot a roll of Portra 400 vs Fuji Superia on a trip to Pittsburgh and the difference was night and day
I took my old Minolta X-700 to Pittsburgh last fall and shot a roll of each. Same locations, same lighting, same day even. The Portra gave these warm, soft colors that made the old steel bridges look like paintings. The Fuji came out flat and greenish, like a bad memory. Been team Portra ever since, even if it costs me $12 a roll now. Anyone else find a film stock that just clicks with a certain city?

Night and day" feels like a stretch man, it's just film lol. Pretty sure you could tweak the scans and get them looking similar.

You say "it's just film" but that's exactly what I used to think until I actually saw the two cuts back to back. I honestly thought people were just being dramatic about the color timing until I watched the new one and realized how much flatter and less textured everything looked compared to the original. The whole mood of the movie shifted for me just from the grading alone, not something you can fix with a quick tweak.
