Showerthought: A lab tech in Reno convinced me to ditch my spot meter for black and white street shots
I've been carrying a Sekonic L-358 for years and metering every scene, even quick street stuff. Last Tuesday a lab tech named Dana in Reno told me she never meters for Tri-X and just sets her M6 to 1/500 at f/8 in daylight. I argued for about 20 minutes, but then she showed me a binder of 40 plus prints from a trip to Chicago and every exposure was dead on. So now I'm trying her method and my first roll came back with only one thin frame out of 36. Has anyone else dropped their meter for a fixed daylight setting, or am I about to waste a bunch of rolls finding out?
