Showerthought: Local film labs shutting down has made the whole process a waiting game

I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but I remember when you could bring your film to the corner store and get prints back in a day or two. Now I have to ship it off to some lab across the country and wait like three weeks just to see if my shots came out. It kinda takes the joy out of shooting on film when you can't share or even remember what you captured right after. Specific thing, last roll I sent took so long I'd moved on to a new project before the photos showed up.

I used to think the wait was part of the fun. Your story about moving on before seeing the photos made me realize it's a problem.

Wow, talk about killing the mood. By the time my photos come back, I've already forgotten what I even took pictures of. It's like sending a letter by carrier pigeon in the age of texting. I shot a roll at my friend's wedding and got the prints back after they got back from their honeymoon. Might as well just time capsule the film and dig it up in ten years. So much for capturing the moment when you get it back a month later.
