Spent 3 hours trying to fix a light leak on my Canon AE-1

I kept getting these weird streaks on my last roll of Portra 400 and thought the shutter was busted. Turned out the foam light seal strip near the hinge had basically turned to dust. It took me 3 hours of googling and swapping lenses before I remembered those foam kits exist. Has anyone else had a simple fix like that ruin a whole weekend of shooting?

Haha oh man, I feel your pain. I once spent a whole evening taking apart my Pentax K1000 because I thought the mirror was stuck. Turns out I just had the damn lens cap on. Three hours of my life I'll never get back, and the only thing I fixed was my pride. Have you tried those pre-cut light seal kits yet?
