The same lake at 6am vs 6pm, same roll of Portra 400
I shot two frames of Mirror Lake in upstate New York on one roll, one at sunrise and one right before sunset, same spot on the dock. The morning shot came out soft and blue with mist, the evening one had this deep orange glow hitting the reeds. What causes the biggest difference for you guys, the light direction or the temperature of the day?

Shot a similar pair on Lake Champlain with Ektar and the temperature swing mattered way more than I expected. The cold morning air held the mist and killed the contrast, while the warm evening air let the orange light bounce around and saturate everything. Direction still decides where the shadows fall, but temp is what gives the shot its mood.
