Bought the 4K Blu-ray box set of my favorite anime, then found out it was region locked

Last month I dropped $180 on the collector's edition of a 90s mecha series I watched as a kid, thinking it would be the definitive version. Turns out the discs are coded for Region B only, and my player here in Portland is Region A, so it just spits them out. I checked the listing again and the region info was buried in the fine print under a dozen screenshots. Anyone else get burned by region locks on imports, or did I just miss the obvious warning that was staring at me?
